Welcome to La Habana Magazine. The July issue wishes to celebrate the Cuban Revolution on the 63rd anniversary of the attack on Moncada Barracks, which kick-started the Revolution in 1953. We feature several articles on the Revolution, including a detailed piece on the preparation and actual attack on the Moncada.

Read about the presence of Che Guevara and National Hero José Martí within the Revolution. Other topics include the Museum of the Revolution, Photography and Culture in the Revolution, and Billboards in revolutionary Cuba with great pictures to illustrate Cuba’s concept of advertising.

Cubania La Habana Magazine July 2016

Back in Havana, there is no let up in activities, exhibitions, concerts, festivals and performances. There is Cuba’s premier comedy festival from July 3 to 10, and CIRCUBA, the third oldest circus festival in the world, July 11-17. If trova is your thing, the First Havana Trova Festival will be held July 5-9 at Centro Cultural El Sauce, with a special performance by Silvio Rodriguez, Tuesday, June 5.

And if you’re at the most famous stretch of Vedado’s 23rd St., La Rampa, visit the Pabellón Cuba for the best artistic handicrafts made on the Island.

Cubania La Habana Magazine July 2016

An absolute must for anyone who likes Cuban ballet are the performances by the Ballet Nacional de Cuba of Dionaea, Percusión para 6 hombres and the Paquita Grand Pas Classique, July 8-10, and Don Quixote, July 16-17 & 22-24, at the splendid Gran Teatro de la Habana Alicia Alonso.

There is definitely something for everyone this month, whether it’s art exhibitions, concerts, the circus, theater or dance.
