At Cubania Travel we are committed to operating our business and tours in a way that is sympathetic to the local society, economy, culture and environment.
We do this by:
Employing local guides and staff, providing them with excellent training and leadership opportunities, encouraging fair employment practices and rewarding job-related performance.
Supporting local enterprise; we encourage clients to dine at privately owned restaurants (paladares) and buy souvenirs from local handicraft markets. The snacks and fruit for our biking and trekking trips are bought from local markets and vendors.
Designing our trips to give our groups as much interaction as possible with locals.
Designing our treks to leave as little physical impact as possible on the destinations we visit; we only cycle or trek on well-established trails.
Re-cycling at every opportunity; we give our water bottles from our activity trips to local communities who use them to sell home-made fruit juices at food markets. Tyres and other spare parts which can no longer be used on our bikes are donated to locals.
Printing only essential documents (we are a virtually paper free office); using energy saving light bulbs and keeping air conditioning use to a minimum.
Encouraging a better understanding of Cuban culture and traditions by providing as many opportunities as possible to interact with locals.
Encouraging clients to ask plenty of questions about the unique situation that has given Cuba its iconic reputation, but asking them to respect the outlook and opinions of the locals.
Not endorsing or allowing any participation in commercial sexual activities or illegal drug use on our trips.
